Dirty dirty illustrations…

We were invited to work on a cultural show here in Tana (@ Soarano Train Station). The theme was “The comb” mainly around a collection of ethnical combs. In Madagascar each ethnic groups have different attributes to show off power, means, social position… One of these ethnic groups, named Antandroy, used to wear comb to define their social position, role in the tribe, sexual availability…

Modern art was the most current style, the invited artists were painters, sculptors, photographers, crafters… So I decided to work on fake comics covers, inspired by Hergé’s masterpiece : the Adventures of Tintin. I draw only 8/24… Not so easy to take back (pastiche) all the covers, and I had no time left too…

So my main character is a louse, his pet is a mite and the professor/captain a tick. I worked with blender for the 3D scenes, and boosted lights and different effects with photoshop. I try to create a render between photos generated by an electronic microscope and macroscopic photos (photos generated by an electronic microscope don’t show transparency neither deep of field…)

Printed on tintoretto gesso paper (A3), sticked on PVC FOAM, each illustration is numbered (1 to 5) and signed.

I extended the expo at the Outcool Pub in Tana
